Emotional Intelligence is an essential part of the Agile Coach mindset.

Today we are going to talk about something which in our opinion is crucial for an Agile Coach, which is to have very high Emotional Intelligence.
So, what is actually Emotional Intelligence? We talk about that in our training. Emotional intelligence is comprised of two different parts. The first one is self-awareness.
Self-awareness has to do with being aware of your internal states, your feelings. Your preferences in terms of communication, of dealing with conflicts and resources. For instance, how patient you are at that moment and so on.
And the second part is about self-management. Self-management has to do with managing all that we’ve spoken before in order to be as effective as possible as an agile coach.

This is a very lively example of using #gamification in #Vodafone. It shows the self-organization emerging within a team. Turn the volume up :).
One might think, at a first look, that using a game is not helpful, because it doesn’t map a “real” work environment.
We agree to disagree with that point of view.
When using a game to teach/demonstrate/have the participants walk a mile on this new pair of shoes, we focus on the skills/concept/technique on what we are providing coaching/training. Here we are focusing on self-organization.
We gain that focus by leaving out everything which is not relevant.
